Hillsong United – You Hold Me Now

Next year in the New Jerusalem!

Isaiah 65:17 – “For behold, k I create new heavens
and a new earth,
and the former things shall not be remembered
or come into mind.
18 But be glad and rejoice forever
in that which I create;
for behold, l I create Jerusalem to be a joy,
and her people to be a gladness.
19 m I will rejoice in Jerusalem
and be glad in my people;
n no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping
and the cry of distress.
20 No more shall there be in it
an infant who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not fill out his days,
for o the young man shall die a hundred years old,
and p the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed.
21 q They shall build houses and inhabit them;
they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
22 q They shall not build and another inhabit;
they shall not plant and another eat;
r for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be,
and my chosen shall long enjoy [3] the work of their hands.
23 s They shall not labor in vain
t or bear children for calamity, [4]
for u they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the Lord,
and their descendants with them.
24 v Before they call I will answer;
w while they are yet speaking I will hear.
25 x The wolf and the lamb shall graze together;
the lion shall eat straw like the ox,
and y dust shall be the serpent’s food.
z They shall not hurt or destroy
in all my holy mountain,”
says the Lord.

On that day when I see
All that You have for me
When I see You face to face
There surrounded by Your grace

All my fear is swept away
In the light of your embrace
When Your love is all I need
And forever I am free

Where the streets are made of gold
In Your presence healed and whole
Let the songs of heaven rise to you alone

No weeping, no hurt or pain
No suffering You hold me now
You hold me now
No darkness no sick or lame
No hiding You hold me now,
You hold me now

In this life I will stand
Through my joy and my pain
Knowing there’s a greater day
There’s a hope that never fails

When Your name is lifted high
And forever praises rise
For the glory of Your Name
I’m believing for the day

When the wars and violence cease
All creation lives in peace
Let the songs of heaven rise to you alone

No weeping, no hurt or pain
No suffering You hold me now
You hold me now
No darkness, no sick or lame
No hiding You hold me now,
You hold me now

For eternity
All my heart will give
All the glory to Your name

For eternity
All my heart will give
All the glory to Your name

For eternity
All my heart will give
All the glory to Your name

For eternity
All my heart will give
All the glory to Your name

No weeping, no hurt or pain
No suffering You hold me now
You hold me now
No darkness no sick or lame
No hiding You hold me now,
You hold me now

No weeping, no hurt or pain
No suffering You hold me now
You hold me now
No darkness no sick or lame
No hiding You hold me now,
You hold me now

No weeping, no hurt or pain
No suffering You hold me now
You hold me now
No darkness no sick or lame
No hiding You hold me now,
You hold me now

Remembering Ted Kennedy

Ted Kennedy

Ted Kennedy, youngest brother of Joseph Kennedy Jr. (died 1944 as a war hero) assassinated President John F. Kennedy (1963), and Presidential candidate & Senator Robert F. Kennedy (1968) died today after serving nine terms (47 years) in the Senate.

I saw the world and the political spectrum very differently from Senator Kennedy, but today I join many Americans in mourning another loss for the Kennedy family.

Film – A matrix of meaning

Such an important topic. As an avid fan of the medium, I’m always thrilled to hear voices speaking about it redemptively. I love the Centre for Public Christianity, and I love film, so this was a solid gold find.

Enjoy.

Also, as a super-terrific bonus, he’s made a fascinating documentary called Purple State of Mind

Get a Bible with all the words…

This is one reason why I required the purchase of an ESV Study Bible for my students this year, and why I hope to have the opportunity in the near future to persuade our ministry to move to the ESV as our official translation.

This is also one more reason why John Piper is one of the most important voices in evangelical Christianity.

Discovered through my dear friend Matthew Childers’ blog.

Oh You Bring

More of You this year, Father.

You are what we want.

Oh You bring hope to the hopeless
And light to those in the darkness
And death to life
Now I’m alive
Oh You give peace to the restless
And joy to homes that are broken
I see You now
In You I’m found

CHORUS:
And You opened the door for me
And You laid down
Your life to set me free
All that I am will serve You Lord
And You opened my eyes to see
All the wonder and awe of Christ in me
Jesus You’re everything I need

VERSE 2:
Oh You fill those who are empty
And rescue those in the valley
And through it all You calm my soul
Oh You find me in my weakness
And heal the wounds of my heartache
I worship You in spirit and truth

BRIDGE:
All honour
All glory
All praise to You
