Lots of poetry.

Great poetry about our great God

Here’s his most recent effort

Rejoice! Your Names Are Written in Heaven

Luke 10:17-20

The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

How quickly does a lightening bolt
Fall from the blackened clouds and strike the forest fair!
How powerful the fleeting volt
That vanishes at once and leaves a cinder there!

So quickly falls the ancient Snake
From his condemning height with all his cruel pangs,
When in Your name and for Your sake
We wield your mighty word and break his deadly fangs.

And as we leap to celebrate
This triumph in our hands, this best of mountain peaks,
Your voice, so calm and full of weight,
Cuts through our ecstasy, our festival, and speaks:

“Do not rejoice in this, dear ones,
That Satan and his hordes are subject to your voice,
But that, in heav’n as treasured sons,
Your names are written down. In this, in this, rejoice!

Rejoice, rejoice, my friends, my prize!
Your names are written there, in blood with my own hand.
Rejoice and sing, rejoice, arise
And leap for this: before the world, your name was planned.

Rejoice, your name is written there
Secure, and by this Lamb it is forever placed.
And thus by my own blood I swear:
Your name will never be, no never be, erased.”

Charles Wesley

I know Thee, Saviour, Who Thou art:
Jesus, the feeble sinner’s friend!
Nor wilt Thou with the night depart,
But stay and love me to the end.
Thy mercies never shall remove;
Thy nature and Thy name is Love.

Having officiated two weddings this summer, I only wish that the couples had come up with something like this so I could have had a front row seat.

Robot attacks!

Igor Stravinsky

The Church knew what the Psalmist knew: music praises God. Music is as well, or better, able to praise Him than the building of a church and all its decoration; it is the Church’s greatest ornament.

This band’s been on the radar for me for some time.

This song is completely fascinating.

P.S. – ITunes describes them as “post-rock electro-folksters”. Wow.

Save up all the days
A routine malaise
Just like yesterday
I told you I would stay

Would you always
Maybe sometimes
Make it easy
Take your time

Think of all the ways
Momentary phase
Just like yesterday
I told you I would stay

Every time you try
Quarter half the mile
Just like yesterday
I told you I would stay

Would you always
Maybe sometimes
Make it easy
Take your time

It is with profound sadness that I post what may indeed be the final episode of the best show on television.

I offer my own humble petition that this great work may not go unrecognized by the tv gods and find its rightful place somewhere on my dial for years to come.

I have written letters to the fickle tv gods, I now offer this as proof positive that this show must not go away forever.

It would be shameful…

The tv gods are no gods at all!

The link below should take you to the list for this year.

A huge thank you to all who assembled and made this happen.
